Brian Brown is the Dave Cantin Group’s chief operating officer. Headquartered in New York, Brown has 30 years of automotive experience covering virtually every aspect of dealership operations from a retail, wholesale and investor perspective.
A majority of Brown’s management career has been spent at General Motors in a variety of corporate, regional and field-level positions.
He later was instrumental in developing and executing the private-equity automotive strategy that established GPB Capital as a top-10 privately held alternative asset management company with more than $3.2 billion in annualized revenue.
Brown was instrumental in the seamless transition of bringing independently owned dealerships into the GPB family, while driving employee engagement along with the implementation of various operational and staffing improvements.
“Brian has a thorough understanding of our business from both a retail and wholesale perspective,” notes Dave Cantin, the group’s founder and CEO. “His success is driven by a unique ability to view and understand the dealership business not as it is today, but as it needs to be for success tomorrow.”
Brown’s background includes work in product advertising, marketing, dealership operations and employee engagement. He also has extensive experience with OEM business processes and the implementation of variable and fixed business strategies.
In addition, Brown maintains an industry-wide network of automaker, private equity and dealership contacts from which he is able to develop and drive future business strategies.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in automotive management from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, and a master’s degree in business administration and management from Cambridge College in Charlestown, Massachusetts.
